Float Trip

Another fun thing I did over summer was going on a float trip in Noel, Missouri, located about 4 miles away from Manhattan. On this trip my friends and I rented a few kayaks and for 3 days we just went up and down a river, occasionally stopping to talk with strangers or to swim/jump off rocks or bridges.

The weather was very nice when we were down there, on average sitting around 85 or 90 degrees. We did get rained on a few of the days, but it was still warm enough that it wasn’t too obnoxious and we were still able to enjoy the river.

We stayed in small, cheap cabins while on the trip. They were honestly nothing more than shacks but they were air conditioned shacks so we were willing to take what we could get.

While on the trip at a stop we met a very nice group, their names were Gary and Lin and they also had their family with them. We met them on the second day of the trip and they liked us so much that they invited us over to their camper trailer for food that night, which was fantastic, and then they floated the river with us the whole day the next day. They said we were some of the nicest people they had ever met while floating the river so that was very good to hear. The place we stayed at had other options other than the river, for example they had a challenge course and zip line set up. But we weren’t willing to pay the extra fee to do any of those activities. All in all the trip was a lot of fun and I would definitely do it again and recommend others do it if they never have.
