Swamp at Sunset

Over fall break, I traveled to Campti, Louisiana to visit my grandparents. I have been here before, but I was pretty young so I did not remember much. The second day we got there, my grandma took my sister and I to the swamp. Near their house is a place called Black Lake. It was not the typical lake Kansas has. There were signs all over warning people of dangerous snakes, alligators, and even wild hogs. Fortunately, I did not encounter any of them. We walked around the lake, avoiding big holes. We were there around sunset so I got to take some beautiful photos. The trees were thriving in the gloomy water and so were the bugs. I was still pretty warm in the south so mosquito’s and other bugs were still around. This area was very beautiful to walk around at this time of day. The water was pretty calm so it acted like a mirror when taking photos. My grandparents go kayaking on this lake and told us to come back in the summer to try it out. I think I will.
