I have spent many weekends enjoying the trails of multiple state and national parks atop horse back, but this time I had the opportunity to do this from a different point of view. On the southwestern part of the Ozarks lays Devil’s Den State Park, here the recreation oppurtunities are abundant! Actually, I have visited this park once before with family on horseback but this time I was surrounded by friends and strapped into an ATV.
Although I have spent multiple weekends in the Oklahoma sand dunes riding ATV’s this was much different. The landscape and scenery for one was just breathtaking, the creeks ran clear and blue, trees grew tall and thick. It was the perfect spot and atmosphere for a surprise proposal one of my best friends had no idea about. Yes, everyone shed a tear and a huge prayer that he would not drop the ring in the water rushing below them. Luckily the ring found her hand perfectly and everyone sighed in relief!
Being able to spend this time with friends made it even better. Although we made many memories on the trails, back at the cabin there was even more to be made. Endless laughs, food, and of course beer was shared among us and lots of time in the hot tubs was spent! When the weekend came to an end no one was ready to go home.
Spending the weekend in some beautiful country was amazing, but I find sharing these moments with friends and family is what makes it perfect.
